The Hermes Project

Sebastian “Bass” Ellis continues his adventures in the Caribbean with this Christmas-season cruise to St. John, US Virgin Islands, with his daughter Maddy. Maddy experiences a rare jellyfish attack on a night snorkel the very first evening of the voyage. A nearby sailor offers aid. He is Jeff Montcroft, the son of a wealthy businessman.

Unknown to the three, not far away, the attempted murder of a passenger on an island taxi sets the stage for Bass and Maddy to cross paths with conspirators in a monstrous plot. On a hike with Jeff, Bass and Maddy experience a flash flood and discover a backpack belonging to a boy, the son of the intended victim on the taxi. The lad has been abducted by his father, who is trying to prevent a group of industrialists – including his estranged wife, the boy’s mother -  from carrying out a plan to launch a new Noah’s Ark. It is she who arranged for the murder attempt on the father.
